We make one book for your family. We use what you send us to make that book, and nothing else.

Who we are

What we collect

• From the order form: your child's first name, age and pronoun, which parent appears in the story, an optional dedication and signature line, your email, and the photos you upload of your child and of that parent.
• At checkout: Stripe collects your payment card. We never see or store your card number. For printed books Stripe also collects your shipping address and phone number, which we receive to send your book.
• The new-stories list: your email, and anything you choose to tell us (your name, the kinds of stories you want, your child's age range, a story idea), plus the page or ad that brought you.
• If you sign in: a cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 60 days. It is used for nothing else.
• When you browse: our hosting provider keeps standard request logs. When you join the new-stories list we keep a one-way scrambled version of your IP address, not the address itself, to stop spam sign-ups. We do not use advertising cookies or trackers on this site.

We collect children's details only from a parent or guardian, who confirms that role before uploading photos. We never ask children for information.

How we use it

• To draw your child and the parent as illustrated characters, write your child's name into the story, and make the book you ordered.
• To show you previews, take your approval, print and ship the book, and email you about your order.
• For the new-stories list: to email you when a new story opens. Every email lets you leave the list.

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not use your photos or your child's details for advertising.

Your photos

• Photos are used only to draw the characters for your book.
• Once you pick the faces, we delete the photos you uploaded. We keep only the drawn characters and the pages of your book, so we can reprint it or fix a page.
• If you cancel before we draw, we delete your photos then.
• No book shows your home, your street or your child's school.

Saved characters and your account

• After you pick the faces, you can choose to save the drawn characters (your child and the parent) for your next book. Nothing is saved unless you tap to save.
• We keep the drawn face, the name, the child's age and pronoun, and a short written description of the drawn face so we can draw it again the same way. We do not keep your photos.
• You sign in with a code we email you. There is no password.
• Delete a saved character, or your whole account, any time from Your family. We delete it right away.

Who helps us make the book

We share only what each service needs to do its part:

• Google (Gemini) and Anthropic (Claude): AI services that draw the characters from your photos, compare the drawings with the photos, and set your child's name into the words. They receive the photos only for this work.
• Stripe: payments and refunds.
• Lulu: prints and ships printed books. Lulu receives the book files, your name, shipping address and phone number.
• Cloudflare: hosts this website, stores order files while we work on your book, and sends our emails.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our customers or our business from fraud.

How long we keep it

• Uploaded photos: until you pick the faces, or until you cancel.
• Your order (child's name, the drawn characters, book pages, email, shipping details): for as long as we may need to reprint, replace or support your book, and as long as tax and accounting rules require for the order record. Ask us and we will delete your book files sooner.
• Saved characters: until you delete them or your account.
• The new-stories list: until you leave the list or ask us to delete you.

Your choices

Email hello@untoldkidstories.com to see what we hold about you or your child, correct it, or have it deleted. We answer within 30 days. If we still need part of it (for example a payment record), we will tell you what and why.

Security

Order files are stored privately and are reachable only through your personal order link or by our team. Order pages are kept out of search engines. Please do not share your order link.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change affects an order in progress, we will email you first.
